Craft of the Month: Create Your Own Puppet Friend
To celebrate your subscription, we're sharing a fun and simple craft that you can do at home: creating your very own puppet friend! Puppets are a fantastic way to bring stories to life, and they're perfect for encouraging imaginative play.
What You'll Need:
A sock or paper bag (for the puppet body)
Googly eyes or buttons
Felt or colored paper (for the mouth, ears, and other features)
Yarn or string (for hair)
Glue or fabric glue
Markers or fabric paint (for additional details)
Scissors (for cutting)
Instructions:
Prepare the Puppet Body:
If you're using a sock, turn it inside out and put your hand inside to form the puppet shape. If using a paper bag, keep the opening facing down.
Create the Face:
Glue the googly eyes or buttons onto the top part of the sock or bag.
Cut out a mouth shape from felt or colored paper and glue it below the eyes. Get creative by adding a tongue, teeth, or even a funny mustache!
Add Hair and Ears:
Cut pieces of yarn or string for the hair and glue them onto the top of the puppet. You can make the hair long, short, curly, or spiky—whatever suits your puppet's personality!
Cut out ears from felt or colored paper and attach them to the sides of the puppet's head.
Customize Your Puppet:
Use markers or fabric paint to add any other details, like freckles, eyebrows, or patterns on the body. Let your imagination run wild!
Put on a Show:
Now that your puppet is complete, it's time to put on a puppet show! Use your new creation to act out your favorite Patchwork Tales stories, or create your own adventures.
